Why Sage 500?

Sage 500 is an old workhorse platform built by Sage that has matured over time. The platform uses client server technology with a windows client and a MS SQL server back end. While it does not have all the bells & whistles of newer cloud-based environments, it does work well for a certain customer segment.

The product is mature and has features that can support light manufacturing and warehouse operation without a problem. There is also an eco-system of vendors that provides add-on products to support additional features such as e-commerce.

As with all Sage products, it has a modular architecture with following modules

AR

AP

SO

PO

MF

INV

Advanced Planning & Scheduling

Credit Card Processing

Engineering Change Management

Estimating

Inventory Replenishment

Label Expert

Intercompany Transactions

Should we migrate away from Sage 500?

Sage 500 is still actively supported by Sage and there is no current end of life date announced. We do not expect any end-of-life date to be announced in the near future. Our recommendation to migrate away or stay would depend on May criteria and a consultation is available to analyze your current environment.
