NetSuite 2026.1 Release Summary

NetSuite 2026.1 Release Summary
NetSuite 2026.1 Release Summary

Overview

NetSuite 2026.1 production upgrades rolled out in phases from mid-February 2026 through the end of April 2026, with each account’s date shown in the New Release portlet on the Home dashboard. It is a refinement release rather than a major overhaul, with targeted enhancements across financial close, integrations, inventory, pricing, and platform governance. The defining theme is artificial intelligence embedded directly into core finance and operations workflows rather than offered as a separate add-on.

Finance & Accounting

  • Close Manager (headline feature): A new dashboard portlet that consolidates AR, AP, and other period-end tasks into a single view, with AI-driven exception detection, KPI tracking, and forecasted activity to surface missing transactions and variances before month-end.

    • How to use it: You must actively turn this on by going to Setup > Company > Enable Features > Accounting.

  • Payment date prediction: AI-generated estimates of when customers are likely to pay open invoices, based on historical behavior, to support collections and cash-flow planning.

    • How to use it: This requires explicit administrator activation within your system preferences; remember that these generated predictions serve as directional guidance, not absolute certainty.

  • Journal handling improvements: Journal line sublists standardized to keyed configurations for reliable line-level updates, plus the ability to change the posting period on journal entries in pending-approval status — reducing the need to void and recreate transactions during close.

    • How to use it: Line standardization updates automatically, while changing the posting period on pending approvals can be handled directly from the journal entry screen when editing a pending record.

  • Custom GL Lines Plug-in: Now supports secondary accounting books.

    • How to use it: Update your existing Custom GL Lines plug-in implementations via your customization scripts to route lines into your secondary ledgers.

  • Reconciliation and fraud detection: Bank transaction matching uses new generative AI to strengthen the auto-match engine, and Exception Management now considers vendor information to help detect potential payment fraud.

    • How to use it: Leverage this by verifying that Exception Management alerts are configured to monitor changes to vendor data fields near payment schedules.

AI Features

  • AI assistant in NetSuite CRM that summarizes each support case, including sentiment, message history, notes, and escalations, directly on the case page.

    • How to use it: Utilize the new summary interface panel on the standard NetSuite CRM Case form.

  • Generative AI in Customer 360 that produces a narrative overview of a customer’s transactions, activities, and support interactions with a single click.

    • How to use it: Click the newly available “Generate Insight” or narrative action button directly on individual Customer records.

  • AI-generated narratives that summarize inventory and pricing reports with key highlights and recommended actions.

    • How to use it: Run standard inventory or pricing analytics and use the embedded text narrative options to review the generated summary highlights.

  • New iPaaS-based NetSuite Integration Platform, plus the ability to connect external AI clients to data in NetSuite Analytics Warehouse.

    • How to use it: Route your data orchestration patterns through the updated integration management workspace.

Developer / Platform / Integration

  • Expanded REST Web Services: Four new operations, most notably homogeneous batch processing (add, update, delete, or upsert multiple records of the same type in a single asynchronous request), which removes a long-standing bottleneck that pushed high-volume workloads toward CSV imports. Also includes attach/detach, a create-form operation returning a prepopulated record form, and a selectOptions operation for valid dropdown values.

    • How to use it: Update your API endpoints to execute these new operations when working with high-volume REST data pipelines.

  • SuiteScript 2.1 runtime for existing scripts: A global preference lets existing SuiteScript 2.0 server scripts run on the faster 2.1 runtime without rewriting them — the recommended way to validate compatibility and capture performance gains ahead of a full migration.

    • How to use it: Enable this globally in your account preferences. We highly recommend enabling and validating this in a sandbox environment first.

  • Module updates: N/http and N/https modules now support the PATCH method; the N/llm module adds OpenAI GPT-OSS support.

    • How to use it: Update your custom scripts to call these methods natively in your JS files.

  • SuiteCloud Developer Assistant: An AI coding assistant in the VS Code extension supporting SuiteScript authoring and SuiteCloud project structure.

    • How to use it: Install the updated SuiteCloud Extension for VS Code and configure the assistant via the extension options.

  • SDF enhancements: A pre-uninstall (beforeUndeploy) hook for cleanup logic before a SuiteApp is removed, and the ability to define file permissions directly in project XML.

    • How to use it: Declare file permissions within your project XML file structure and write custom script logic inside the installation hook.

  • System Notes v2: The modernized audit-logging framework continues to expand its record-type coverage (now including promotion and coupon code records), relevant for audit and change-tracking integrations.

    • How to use it: Access these audit logs through standard System Notes subtabs on promotion and coupon records.

Authentication & Security – Action Required

The following are deadlines to plan for, not features to enable, and affect integration roadmaps:

  • TBA retirement for new integrations: Starting in 2027.1, new integrations will no longer be able to use Token-Based Authentication. Existing TBA integrations continue to work, but all new builds should be designed around OAuth 2.0.

    • How to use/prepare: Mandate OAuth 2.0 for all newly designed internal and external integrations.

  • PKCE requirement: Also in 2027.1, new OAuth 2.0 authorization-code-grant integrations will require PKCE regardless of client type — implement it now to avoid rework.

    • How to use/prepare: Adopt Proof Key for Code Exchange (PKCE) flow when creating integration client apps immediately.

  • Session and certificate controls: Concurrent sessions now require administrator opt-in and 2FA-enforced roles, and a maximum of five active certificates per integration record is enforced.

    • How to use/prepare: Audit user roles and limit active certificates on all integration profiles down to five or fewer.

Inventory, Operations & Pricing

  • Consignment inventory: Native support for tracking vendor-owned stock with separate accounting for assets and COGS, replacing prior custom workarounds. Does not currently support Assembly Items or WMS.

    • How to use it: Activate via Features Manager and leverage the new standard consignment-specific record structures for vendor inventory management.

  • Advanced Pricing: A new rules-based pricing engine supporting cost-plus pricing and targeted prices by date, item, and customer, applied across sales and return transactions.

    • How to use it: Configure targeted price rules, dates, and customer variables within the new Advanced Pricing setup console.
