
How do I remove duplicate communication entries in Sage CRM?
The Problem
Are you experiencing a duplicate communication entries in Sage CRM, where the same communication is listed twice or more? This article may help you resolve the issue. Sage CRM when integrated with Sage 100 can sometimes show duplicate companies due to an underlying issue with how phone and email data for persons is stored and synchronized with Sage 100.
The Solution
The solution to this problem is cannot be fixed from the user interface or GUI of the system. The issue is the underlying data and the views that are written in CRM. When running a search for company, opportunity or communication, CRM uses the below listed views:
- vListCommunication
This view is responsible for gathering data from the company table and combine it with phone and email data for contacts associated with the company. Due to the underlying issue with duplication of data in phone and email table, the result includes duplicates which are then displayed in the company search field.
Now, can you fix the CRMPhoneEmailData duplicates? Yes, Sage has provided a script to clean up this data but the issue reoccurs as the problem is with how the search operates. We have changed the underlying views using our own views that eliminate these duplicates during the search process that does not rely on ongoing cleanup of the phone and email data. This results in a permanent solution to the problem until you upgrade your CRM.
