Formerly known as Mas 500, Sage 500 is an old workhorse platform built by Sage that has matured over time. The platform uses client server technology with a windows client and a MS SQL server back end. While it does not have all the bells & whistles of newer cloud-based environments, it does work well for a certain customer segment.
The product is mature and has features that can support light manufacturing and warehouse operation without a problem. There is also an eco-system of vendors that provides add-on products to support additional features such as e-commerce.
Sage 500 comes with its pros and cons and may be right for some customers. In order to make a recommendation if you should migrate to Sage 500, we would recommend analyzing the platform and competitors to see if it’s a good fit.
Sage 500 is still actively supported by Sage and there is no current end of life date announced. We do not expect any end-of-life date to be announced in the near future. Our recommendation to migrate away or stay would depend on May criteria and a consultation is available to analyze your current environment.
We can provide expert advice on the possibility and the most likely migration path.
We are Sage 500 gold developer partner and can customize the platform to your needs. Enhancing your Sage 500 platform is certainly an attractive option to enhance value and improve ROI or to address any deficiencies in the platform.
